This time the team invited us once Sam was taking 8/9steps. He had started to take steps on New Year’s Day at a friends house and we really didn’t expect him to walk as quickly as he did. Within a matter of weeks he has really started to take more risks going from one thing to another or from person to person.
We headed to Donaghys in Banbridge,Co.Down (Walking through the women’s shoe department and sale to get to the Kids Zone wasn’t easy! The Kids Zone is HUGE! (Only a third of it is shown in these pics and video!).
Not only is there a huge range of shoes for kids but also clothes! They also have a sports section and ladies and menswear upstairs with some gorgeous brands. It really is a destination store you could spend the morning in no problem and head to one of the lovely cafe’s Banbridge has to offer! My mum came with us and she managed to buy a handbag in the sale so we did get slightly sidetracked!
After all your little one getting their first shoes is a big milestone. To help celebrate this milestone Donaghys have added to the already impressive customer service and staff knowledge by creating a ‘My First Shoes’ Experience.
You will have a wide range of shoes to choose from to fit your child’s needs. All of these shoes are fitted by their trained experts from brands such as Clarks, Startrite, Biomecanics, Bobux, Primigi, Agatha, Garvalin and Geox to name a few.
We had the lovely Chloe on hand to measure Sam up which he was really good at, he was intrigued that’s for sure. He came up a 4.5 with one foot a little broader that the other. Chloe was able to write this all down for me on a size card for reference and suggested I continue to get Sam’s feet checked every 6/8weeks as his walking and feet develop.
When it came to trying on we found the Geox style I liked below wasn’t as comfortable for him with his broader foot so went with this Clark’s deck shoes style which I just love! (Available in tan also).Donaghys Chloe also captured Sam’s special moment (with Arlene head of the kids dept entertaining him with Polly the parrot) by getting a photo. Ali Marriot a local designer. The frame even has magnetic strips (perfect to go pride of place on the fridge with all of the kids artwork!)
He had a fab morning in store and I think you can tell from the video he had a ball playing with the toys and exploring!
I hadn’t bought the pre walkers for him and perhaps I should have as he has only ever had the soft leather ‘pram shoes’ on before. So he really wasn’t used to the shoes whatsoever. They must have felt like lead balloons for him at first. I haven’t kept them on him all day but at intervals to get him used to them and he is doing much better.
I can’t believe he will be one this weekend and is walking. Time flys but I really loved marking the occasion with Donaghys. Thank-you for inviting us down. #gifted.
